Alternative Spring Break

ASB is a student led week long experience that affords students an opportunity to put Catholic Social Teaching into action. Through a process of discernment during the fall semester, students select sites where they serve the poor during spring break.

Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD)

This is a domestic anti-poverty social justice program of the U.S. Catholic bishops which seeks to break the cycle of poverty by educating for justice and providing funding to empower the poor. CNU CCM contributes to CCHD's annual drive and we are currently selling bracelets to raise consciousness about the plight of the poor and the work of CCHD.  POC: Discerning

Heifer International

This organization seeks to end world hunger. CNU CCM does the work of justice by raising consciousness about world hunger. We work with Heifer International by conducting an annual fundraiser both on the CNU campus and at the Fair Trade Festival held each October at nearby Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

PB & J Sandwiches

The second Wednesday of each month CCMers join area young adults at Our Lady of Mount Carmel to help make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches which are then distributed to area hungry through Backdoor Ministry at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. It serves the inner-city poor and hungry of Newport News, Virginia.

St Paul's Meal Ministry

One way that CCM responds to the call of Jesus is to serve the poor. Once a month, we prepare, serve, and share a meal and God's love with our downtown neighbors. This is done through the Justice Ministries of St. Paul's Episcopal Church located in the inner-city of Newport News.
